Seaview House sits on the headland to the south of Berwick,
with stunning views over the Tweed estuary and Spittal beach to the north,
and Holy Island and Bamburgh Castle to the south.
Spittal,
once a thriving fishing village and centre for smuggling now provides local
shops, and a regular bus service into Berwick, about 2 miles distant. There
is a new promenade with a children’s playground, paddling pool and café.
The promenade and riverside walk into Berwick are part of the W.S. Lowry trail
with viewpoints relating to the artist's paintings.
The
Rob Roy – a famous local seafood restaurant is near the docks in Tweemouth.
The promenade and sandy beach are accessed down a private track from Seaview House,
some 3 minutes walk. A magnificent cliff-top walk lies to the south. This
walk forms part of the Sustrans Cycle network running along the east coast.
